The IC697CPU788 is a 32-bit programmable logic controller for critical IC660/661 environments that may require emergency shutdowns. When used with C program modules, the IC697CPU788 supports triple modular redundancy (TMR). There are two ways to operate this device: run/stop the switch or connect the computer with the correct software.
Support for "Smart options" and I/O modules such as the IC697 LAN and I/O link interface modules, alphanumeric display modules, bus controllers for IC660 and IC661 devices, and IC697 discrete and analog modules. Note: The IC697 I/O module must be in simplex mode. To facilitate communication with these modules, the IC697CPU788 uses a rack-mounted backplane.
When the switch is in a protected position, IC697CPU788 can only change the IC697CPU788 CPU configuration through a programmer connected to the parallel port.
