Woodward is one of the oldest and leading manufacturers of digital control equipment, designing control units for the 505 and 505E models. These units are built with a microprocessor-based setup to properly operate and simplify turbine operations of all sizes.
The unit is specified with a numeric ID of 9907-162. The device is capable of running the turbine by using one or two split actuators to drive the inlet steam valve. The 9907-162 is one of the Woodward 505 modules designed to operate steam turbines for single extraction and/or intake applications.
Models 9907-162 and others in the family are designed to be field-programmed by field operators. This can be achieved through a fully integrated operator control panel on the front of the device. It is an informational text display with two lines available, each with 24 characters.
Models 9907-162 also include an optional NEMA 4X protective housing. While it does protect the internal printed circuit from invasive materials, connecting the protective frame limits the amount of heat the model can safely operate. The device is also designed to act as the first alarm indicator of system shutdown, thus reducing the time spent on troubleshooting.
