The CX1020-0000 is the basic CPU module in Beckhoff's embedded PC family, powered by a 1 GHz Intel? Celeron? MULV processor. The controller requires no fan or other rotating parts and features low power consumption and low thermal power consumption, with a thermal design power (TDP) of only 7W. The CX1020 module also contains main memory of different sizes and can be booted from the Compact Flash card.

The CX1020's basic configuration includes a 128MB Compact Flash card and two Ethernet RJ45 ports that connect to a built-in switch, allowing users to create a linear topology without the use of additional Ethernet switches. All other CX Series components can be connected via PC/104 interfaces at both ends of the device.

The operating system can be Windows Embedded CE 6 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009. With TwinCAT 2 automation software, the CX1020 system can be converted into a powerful PLC and motion control system, supporting visual operation with or without. Compared to the CX1010, the CX1020 can also complete axis interpolation motion with the TwinCAT 2 NC I.
