There are many CPU models in the MicroNet digital control family, and this particular model 5466-409 is a Pentium CPU. Typically, models in the MicroNet family can operate in redundancy or simplex mode, but this module can only operate in a simplex system, and after installation it will be located in an extension rack of the case. When a Pentium CPU is located in an expansion rack, it must be used with the primary transceiver (XCVR) and the remote XCVR.
When used as a single CPU unit, a major feature of the 5466-409 module is its ability to perform high processing via dual RS-232 serial ports and a single Ethernet port. This model also has specific operating temperature limits, which range from zero to fifty degrees Celsius, and anything different from these limits can lead to operational errors and failures. A typical service tool used with this module is the AppManager service tool for starting and loading applications over a connected Ethernet.
