The Allen-Bradley 1785-L40C15 is a programmable logic controller (PLC) in the classic PLC5 family. The controller is a dedicated part of the 1785 ControlNet PLC5 programmable controller, equipped with dual ControlNet communication interfaces with secondary and tertiary interfaces.
The 1785-L40C15 is designed to meet a maximum controller memory of up to 48KWord and is capable of handling 2048 I/ OS or 2048 inputs and 2048 outputs when running in complementary mode. It may be installed with a memory module to reach memory limits. The controller implements a distributed I/O architecture and is compatible with a variety of distributed I/O platforms, such as Bulletin 1771 I/O, 1794 I/O, 1746 I/O and 1791 I/O modules, including 8, 16, 32, dedicated and smart modules.
The 1785-L40C15 is equipped with a battery to retain the processor's random access memory (RAM). This battery has the part number 1770-XYC and can only be replaced when the processor is actively powered.
The 1785-L40C15 also supports hot backup systems via 1785-CBHM or ControlNet hot backup tapes. This module is installed in each ControlNet processor rack for high-speed processor switching and data transfer.
